About the AI4STEM Project
Background
The AI4STEM project aims to introduce artificial intelligence to students aged 8-16 through hands-on lessons that blend IoT principles, programming, and STEM learning outcomes. The project will utilize the Five Big Ideas in AI concept to develop an educational framework that will help educators stimulate their students' interest in AI and increase their awareness of how AI can positively affect their daily lives. Through a series of IoT projects, such as a smart agriculture system and a home automation system, students will learn about the Five Big Ideas in AI and understand what AI is, how it works, and its implications and challenges.
Project Results
The AI4STEM project has several expected results that will strengthen educators' capacity to teach AI in a stimulating way through hands-on IoT projects. The project will provide an AI4STEM Educational Framework that guides learners through the Five Big Ideas in AI concept, namely Perception, Representation & Reasoning, Learning, Natural Interaction, and Societal Impact. Additionally, an AI4STEM IoT Kit, including an MCU, IoT sensors, and electronics, will allow educators and students to develop a series of IoT projects. An AI4STEM Educator's Manual will provide detailed instructions on how to utilize the suggested resources and hardware to help educators understand the framework. Finally, the project will include an AI4STEM Academy, an online collaboration space for educators, students, AI enthusiasts, and other stakeholders to access project resources, showcase their IoT projects, build synergies, and further develop the project idea and results.
